I can already tell that the Little Simz and Caroline records are going to end up on the final AOTY list - still digesting them but damn are they brilliant
Nice to be able to be part of this Deep Cuts Redux. Oliver, you drew my attention - along with so much else,- to These New Puritans - thank you…- and I am very positive about this year’s Crooked Wing: Is Essex the UK’s most diverse , happening county for music - even if so many ( Charli , Depeche etc ) end up living elsewhere… ? Anyway, great list, as ever
Thank you for choosing to be part of it! You might be onto something there, TNP certainly doing a lot for Essex’s cred. Haven’t fully unlocked that new record yet, but taking my time with it, as all of their work deserves
I used your water metaphor to explain Stochastic Drift to my IDM-junkie friend and he let me know it was one of the best recs he's had in a minute... thanks for your insight
I've really enjoyed the Model/Actriz sophomore release, "Pirouette." I feel like they're really mastering their brand of dancy, arty, post-punky, industrial music.

It really is, listening to it feels like such a different experience to any other electronic records I’ve listened to over the past year. I’d imagine the upcoming Rival Consoles record might end up standing shoulder to shoulder with it, though

The Residents are a lovely surprise, I'm quite amazed how they can still sound so fresh.
It's pretty incredible isn't it, not sure how many groups with this much history can hit it out the park like this decades later
Amazing. Doctor Dark is a concept album, a horror-themed radio play and a true-crime podcast all in one. How much more modern can you get?
Btw, I'm so glad you're back, Oliver. Looking forward to your content and the discussions we're going to have. :)
Ah thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate your support! Lots of fun stuff to come :)

That Barker album is such a breath of fresh air. Also one of my favorites of the year for sure.
